Cadet Engineer

About the position

Commencing in January 2025, for a period of two years, we are looking for a Cadet Engineer to join our organisation.

In this role, you will build upon your studies by gaining essential engineering, technical and professional skills within a local government context. You will be provided with a comprehensive learning experience, allowing you the application of theoretical knowledge in a practical work environment. A tailored training plan will be developed, providing practical experience across various engineering-related functions, including infrastructure design, design and development assessment, asset management, maintenance, and project/contract management.

The position is full time employment for two (2) years for undergraduates currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering; and entering their final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time.  

This entry level position provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in Council's Community Infrastructure Team.

About you

• Currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and entering final year of studies in 2025, with the ability to study part-time. 
• Current Drivers Licence (minimum NSW Provisional P1 Licence or equivalent). 
• Australian permanent residency.  
• White card (general construction induction card) or willingness to obtain. 
• Demonstrated genuine interest in civil engineering. 
• Positive attitude with the ability to be an active and effective team member. 
• A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment. 
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication. 
• Organised and able to meet deadlines. 
• Demonstrated key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).
