HAYS is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Sales Engineer on behalf of our client, a highly reputed national hydraulic company with operations in both the eastern and western states of Australia. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven professional with a background in mechanical engineering and a passion for sales. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining and developing relationships with both existing and new customers, providing technical solutions, and contributing to business growth.

Your new role

1. Sales & Customer Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Understand customer requirements and offer technical solutions in hydraulics and mechanical engineering.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets and business goals.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing enquiries and resolving issues promptly.
2. Technical Expertise:
  • Provide engineering solutions and technical support to customers.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and technical documentation.
  • Advise customers on product selection, installation, and maintenance.
3. Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with sales, engineering, technical, and workshop teams to ensure accuracy in sales proposals and specifications.
  • Assist in developing sales strategies and providing market trend insights.
4. Store & Logistics Management:
  • Receipt, storage, dispatch of materials and products.
  • Conduct quality and quantity checks for incoming stock.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records and manage logistics for deliveries and pickups.
5. Professional Development:
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new products, and emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement.


What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), or trade qualification with experience in the local hydraulic industry.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Goal-oriented mindset with a passion for achieving sales targets.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach to learning and career growth.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in inventory management, store operations, and logistics is an advantage.
