The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Technical Services Manager to lead our technical services team and support the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of mining operations. This role is responsible for overseeing mine planning, geology, surveying, and engineering functions, ensuring alignment with operational goals and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time Permanent role on an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster, preferably from Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, or Brisbane.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Lead and manage the technical services team, including Mining Engineers, Geologists, and Surveyors.
Develop and maintain mine plans in collaboration with operations, driving continuous improvement in mine design, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
Oversee geological modelling, resource estimation, and grade control processes.
Ensure accurate and timely surveying and reporting of mine production and development.
Manage technical studies, feasibility assessments, and project evaluations.
Provide technical input into budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
What you'll need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
Extensive experience in mining operations, including in a leadership role, familiarity with stratified orebodies is advantageous.
Demonstrated expertise in mine scheduling, geological modelling, grade control, and sampling techniques.
Proficiency in mine planning and geology modelling software (e.g. Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine, Datamine, Leapfrog Geo).
Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
