We are seeking a skilled Openstack Platform Engineer to join our OpenStack Platform Team, responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of our on-premises private cloud infrastructure. This platform spans multiple data centres and integrates Red Hat OpenStack for compute, Red Hat Ceph for storage, and enterprise-grade physical infrastructure.


Your new role

This role is ideal for a proactive engineer who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about automation, cloud technologies, and continuous improvement. You will contribute to both business-as-usual operations and ongoing platform enhancements.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support for Red Hat OpenStack and Ceph clusters in a production environment.
  • Automate maintenance, upgrades, and deployments using Ansible, Python, and Bash.
  • Identify and implement platform improvements independently.
  • Maintain clear, concise documentation to support operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with team members and transfer knowledge to permanent staff through structured handovers.
  • Participate in planning, task prioritisation, and technical discussions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience deploying, administering, and supporting large-scale Red Hat OpenStack environments.
  • Strong skills in infrastructure automation using Ansible, Python, and Bash.
  • Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.
  • Experience with Red Hat Ceph storage cluster design, deployment, and support.
  • Experience administering OpenShift/Kubernetes in on-premises enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting enterprise-grade physical hardware and networking.
  • Australian Citizenship and a minimum NV1 security clearance are required.
