About the role  

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Performance. In this role, you will lead initiatives to optimise system performance and risk management, providing strategic insights and guidance to enhance operational efficiency and support informed decision-making.

Reporting to the Manager Performance, Improvement, Risk and Systems, you will:  

  • Provide coaching and guidance to operational teams on performance reporting tools, metrics interpretation, and performance-driven planning 

  • Oversee governance and consistency of HSEC performance reporting processes, ensuring alignment with Rio Tinto frameworks and assurance expectations 

  • Offer expert support to leaders on performance analysis, helping link data insights to operational outcomes and priority actions 

  • Partner with leaders to identify underperformance, trends and systemic issues, and support development of improvement initiatives to address these 

  • Champion the application of the Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle to enable systematic performance review and improvement 

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-impact performance initiatives that support Best Operator outcomes and enable RTIO HSEC to realise long-term value 

  • Support the Manager Risk, Systems and Performance in mobilising focused capability around critical HSEC performance priorities, leveraging agile and structured problem solving where required 

  • Support the development and implementation of the RTIO HSEC Digital Strategy, particularly where it enables improved visibility, analysis, and action on performance 

What you’ll bring 

  • Exceptional safety, leadership and communication skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and advanced MS office 

  • Previous experience in leading project teams or facilitating workshops to deliver results through others 

  • Demonstrates capability in RT SPS foundational skills / best practices 

  • Previous leadership experience 

  • Extensive experience using business improvement processes within the mining, manufacturing or heavy industry 

  • Project engineering or planning experience 

  • Business analyst or commercial experience 

  • Previous experience / knowledge of digital transformation
