About the role
Join our inclusive and diverse team here at Rio Tinto. We’re seeking a passionate and energetic Supervisor to help establish and lead a new Mine Water Management team at RTIO newest mine site. Reporting to the Mine Water Management Superintendent, you will be responsible for the below duties :
Be an inspiring role model and coach—driving positive behaviours, safety practices, and technical standards
Provide hands-on leadership and mentoring to both trade and non-trade team members, leveraging individual strengths to maintain safety and performance
Conduct daily inspections and regular job interactions to embed a culture of safety and continuous improvement
Allocate and coordinate planned maintenance activities using Rio Tinto workflow management systems
Prioritise and manage breakdowns in collaboration with the mine production team
Lead cost-saving and efficiency improvement projects, contributing to a lean and productive operation
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
A strong commitment to safety—for yourself, your team, and your workplace
Proven leadership experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
Experience in Mine Water Management
Solid understanding of planned maintenance and reliability processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
A current Australian manual (C Class) driver's licence
A genuine respect for others and an inclusive mindset
Courage to challenge the status quo and curiosity to find better ways of working

Where you’ll be working
This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off family friendly roster, FIFO from Perth to Gudai-Darri. (Day shift only)
Our Gudai-Darri iron ore mine is our most technologically advanced mine. In addition to leveraging technology already in use across Rio Tinto, such as autonomous trucks, trains and drills, Gudai-Darri also has more than 70 design innovations including a reclaimer with a rotable bucket wheel, a world class laboratory and in-field access to data and systems for all team members.
The Caterpillar mining fleet at Gudai-Darri includes autonomous trucks, production drills, and in a world first, autonomous water carts.
Located 110km north-west of Newman, Gudai-Darri will produce up to 43 million tonnes of iron ore a year in its first phase, contributing to our flagship product, the Pilbara Blend™. It will also become a production hub for our iron ore business, incorporating world class infrastructure and a 166-kilometre rail line connecting the mine to our existing network.
Gudai-Darri is creating jobs and business opportunities in Western Australia. More than 2,000 people have been employed as part of its construction with approximately 600 permanent operational roles created.
