About the role

This position is a full-time role in the Water and Sewer Division based from the Batemans Bay Depot. This is an excellent opportunity; the successful candidate will coordinate and supervise the activities of Water and Sewer teams ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with Council’s Pollution Control Licences.

Your main duties will include:

  • Operate water and sewer systems in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Develop and implement maintenance and asset renewal systems for water supply reticulation and/or sewer collection and transport systems.
  • Construct Water and Sewerage infrastructure in accordance with detailed designs and industry standards.
  • Collect and record work activity data. Prepare routine reports regarding operational performance of water and sewer assets.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Water and Sewer Operators, Assistant Operators and Trainees providing coaching and operational assistance to them.
  • Participate in Water and Sewer on-call rosters as required. This may include remote monitoring of alarms via SCADA/telemetry systems.

Salary Information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $3,292.54 to $3,590.00 gross per fortnight consisting of:

  • $2,915.11 to $3,181.89 base salary
  • $37.84 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
  • $339.59 to $370.27 superannuation (at 11.5%)

When required by Council, participation in an on call roster is part of this position. An allowance is paid when on call.

A fully maintained Council vehicle for to/from home use is available with this position.

 An offer of employment for this position is subject to medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.

About you

You will have completed your Certificate III in Water Industry Operations and have significant experience in this space. You will be interested in supervising and mentoring teams and be able to demonstrate that you can promote a harmonious and productive work environment.  You will have a can do attitude and will also demonstrate the following in your application:

  • Certificate IV in Water Industry Operations or equivalent qualification, or a willingness and ability to complete within 2 years of commencement with Council’s assistance.
  • Understanding of asset management and asset maintenance/renewals principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organise resources for the efficient operations, maintenance and/or construction of water and/or sewer systems.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven word processing / spreadsheet / database operating skills.
