The Renewable Energy Western Australia (REWA) team is part of the Rio Tinto Energy & Climate (RTEC) group led by the Chief Decarbonisation Officer. The team leads the renewable energy program within Western Australia by working collaboratively across the business to deliver on our climate commitments while ensuring our business is well positioned for the future low-carbon economy.

Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations include an electrical network of 1,000km of transmission lines, multiple 220kV substations, gas turbine generators, solar generation and battery storage feeding mines across the Pilbara region.

We are looking for a collaborative and talented Principal Operational Readiness to lead the design and implementation of operational readiness processes, practices and tools to support the integration of renewable energy projects into our power system.

Reporting to the Integration Manager working as part of a dynamic and exciting team, you will be:

  • Leading the application of the operational readiness framework throughout the full lifecycle for all REWA projects.
  • Successfully integrating each project from study into operation, through effective organisational change management and thorough stakeholder engagement.
  • Developing plans, building strong relationships, identifying success factors and preparing each project to deliver in line with the investment business case.
  • Contributing to the operating philosophy for large-scale renewables and coordinating operations input into design reviews, commissioning and compliance validation phases.
  • Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement using lessons learnt from other projects.

About You

  • Innovative mindset with proven operational readiness practitioner, project management or organisational change management experience.
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to lead, build and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the business and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in power system development or renewable energy will be advantageous.
