This is a large, Australian-based insurance business that is looking to recruit an experienced claims executive or manager for their Melbourne office.
Your new role
This role will see you work as a senior member within the claims function for the business, working closely with the claims manager and broader claims team. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage the claims process from initial notification to final settlement, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for commercial and domestic clients, brokers, and insurers.
- Provide strategic support and mentorship to colleagues, and take responsibility for overseeing the management of team members' work when required.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, strata managers, and owners, by providing regular updates and addressing their concerns promptly.
- Assess the validity and scope of claims, gather necessary documentation, and coordinate with loss adjusters or inspectors as needed.
- Negotiate effectively with insurers and loss adjusters to secure fair and timely settlements for clients, ensuring optimal outcomes.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all claims-related activities, including correspondence, reports, and financial information.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and insurance policies in all claims handling processes.
- Identify and implement improvements in the claims process, contributing to the development of new systems or procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in claims positions at a reputable organisation(s).
- Ideally, have gained experience working within an insurance brokerage in a claims' role.
- Self-motivation skills and being able to hit the ground running.
- Experience in handling large and complex claims across a mixed portfolio (although motor and property predominantly).
- Strong communication skills and professional qualities, along with technical and software proficiency.
