We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee the Mackay Team of an earthmoving equipment company.

Your new role

  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Mackay team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of branch operations, including maintenance and service schedules for heavy equipment, resource allocation, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering customised solutions to meet their earthmoving equipment needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Commercial Management: Oversee commercial activities, including contract negotiation, pricing strategies, and adherence to company policies.
  • Technical Expertise: Ensure the technical team maintains and operates heavy equipment efficiently, meeting the highest standards in performance and safety.
  • Financial Accountability: Take charge of budgeting, financial planning, and profit and loss (P&L) management to ensure the branch achieves its revenue and growth targets.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Address operational challenges proactively by implementing solutions and making impactful decisions that enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility across the team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational improvements, championing initiatives that enhance performance and reduce costs.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong background in the mining sector, with hands-on experience in operations management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical and commercial aspects of operations
  • Expertise in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and driving solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
