You will be part of the Project Planning Team within the Infrastructure Services Division, a forward-thinking group dedicated to delivering sustainable infrastructure that enhances educational outcomes for Queensland’s students. Their aim is to shape infrastructure solutions across approximately 1,200 state schools, ensuring a progressive and future-ready education system.

Your new role

As a Principal Planning Officer, you will be an integral part of the Growth and Renewals stream, working alongside schools, regional infrastructure advisors, and central office teams to guide projects through the planning phase. Your role will be crucial in ensuring projects meet scope, budget, and functional requirements while driving strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of infrastructure planning initiatives, including scoping documentation and concept master planning.
  • Engage with stakeholders to create innovative and fit-for-purpose infrastructure solutions.
  • Deliver accurate and timely reporting, presentations, and briefing materials for governance boards and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment with governance processes and departmental policies, implementing risk mitigation strategies as needed.

What you'll need to succeed

To excel in this role, you will have:
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering infrastructure solutions in educational or similar environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex planning challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Great understanding of building codes
  • Experience and/ or qualifications in building design or architecture is advantageous.
