We are looking for a Scheduler to join our Cranes & Transport Shutdown team based at Paraburdoo. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning and scheduling shutdown activities to support the Crane execution team across Rio Tinto’s Pilbara Mine operations.

Collaboration with the Cranes and Transport Planning, Scheduling, and Execution teams will be essential as you optimise resource utilisation, improve operational efficiency, and ensure seamless coordination across both East and West Pilbara locations.

You’ll work on a 5 days on; 2 days off / 4 days on; 3 days off roster will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.  

Reporting to the Superintendent Planning, you will:

  • Optimising fleet and maximising resource utilisation to reduce hire spend in line with current practices

  • Ensuring the Crane Execution Team is set up to provide customers with a high quality, timely and safe service

  • Planning and scheduling functionality for cranes across all the Pilbara operating sites

  • Interaction within our planning team to share assets and personnel where possible

  • Interaction with site planning teams to challenge requests and look for efficiencies to fully utilize our internal assets and personal

  • Key link between internal and external resource requests and working with C&T Hire and vendors to secure external resources when required

  • Support in resourcing and planning cranes for sustaining capital

  • Support the Crane supervisor as the local subject matter expert in the Work Management process.

  • Provide support and training to team members in the Work Management process

  • Key input to the weekly metrics for resource utilisation and asset utilisation.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in planning and scheduling within a mining, construction, or heavy industry environment

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Primavera, or similar)

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams to optimise resource allocation

  • Knowledge of crane and transport operations
