Job description

Structural/Mechanical/Process/Piping Engineer (SMP)

About Us

LM Engineering delivers exceptional engineering services across various industries, including chemical, construction, renewables, manufacturing, and food & beverage. Our success is built on a thorough understanding of each project's requirements, allowing us to reduce risk and enhance results.

We work collaboratively with our clients to co-design project briefs and develop optimal engineering solutions. Our services include project management, engineering design and development, quality control, and change & systems management. At LM Engineering, we combine technical expertise with innovative problem-solving to drive efficiency and deliver high-performance engineering solutions.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Mechanical/Structural/Process Engineer (SMP) with 5–10 years of experience to join our team. Ideally, we seek a well-rounded SMP Engineer; however, we are also open to specialists in either Mechanical, Structural, or Process Engineering who excel in their field.

Candidates can have either an engineering degree or a trade qualification, but proficiency in CAD software is essential. The right candidate will be confident working with detailed engineering designs and comfortable using BIM/CAD modeling tools to bring concepts to life.

This role involves a balance between design process, design review, and field project assistance. The ideal candidate will enjoy spending time behind the desk working on technical designs but also on-site, visiting plants and factories, taking measurements, speaking with clients, and solving real-world engineering challenges in existing facilities.

At LM Engineering, we take pride in following up on our designs throughout the construction process, ensuring that the design intent is successfully achieved. This provides a unique opportunity to see projects come to life, make real-time adjustments, and optimize results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review mechanical, structural, and process engineering designs.
  • Provide design assistance to field projects, ensuring practical and efficient implementation.
  • Produce detailed CAD/BIM models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct technical analyses, feasibility studies, and system optimizations.
  • Visit client sites, inspect facilities, take measurements, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Follow up on the construction process, verifying that design objectives are met.

Key Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in mechanical, structural, or process engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Advance Steel, Navisworks or similar).
  • A degree in engineering or a trade qualification with relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and industrial processes.
  • Experience in designing and analyzing mechanical/structural systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
  • Willingness to work both in an office setting and on-site at plants and factories.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

What We Offer

  • Exciting and innovative projects with a focus on sustainability and efficiency.
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional growth.
  • Competitive salary.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to see your designs come to life, working closely with construction teams.

About You:

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable, has excellent communication skills and who enjoys sharing the successes of your colleagues and delivering excellence for your clients. Ideally, you’ll have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering but we will also consider other disciplines, including trade origins.
