Oberon Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Facility Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Oberon Fitness & Leisure Centre and Oberon Indoor Sports & Tennis Centre. The ideal candidate will ensure that all facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors and community members.

This is a permanent, full-time position based on 35 hours per week with a 9-day fortnight. The salary range is between $1,925.71 - $2,233.82 per week.

Key responsibilities.

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the gym, pool, and tennis facilities.
  • Ensure all equipment is in excellent working condition and arrange for repairs as needed.
  • Manage a team of staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety regulations.
  • Design, implement and evaluate programs and events.
  • Monitor and manage budgets for facility operations and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve community satisfaction and facility usage.
  • Handle community inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following criteria:

Essential

  1. A minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant work experience coordinating aquatic and gym services
  2. RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Licence or evidence of completing the Pool Lifeguard course.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of relevant standards and guidelines for water quality, maintenance, and safety standards of a commercial swimming pool complex.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with the public and possession of excellent interpersonal skills, with highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to supervise pool and gym patrons with excellent people management skills with respect to supervision of employees and customer service.
  6. Ability to satisfactorily complete Lifeguard Competency Assessment.
  7. Experience in making contributions for improvement to a quality management system or suggestions for business improvements, by developing, implementing, and evaluating community programs and events
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of obligations to Work, Health & Safety including reviews, audits, train other in safety procedures primarily on the job, leading work teams on safety compliance, ensuring a culture of safety first within the work team. At all times act in accordance with the principles identified in the Local Government Act, State and Federal legislation.
  9. Ability to undertake manual handling tasks in a safe manner
  10. AQF3 Chemical Accreditation - AHCCHM304 Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals and understanding of Safework NSW HAZCAM and CHEMCERT requirements and demonstrated ability to identify hazardous materials such as sharps and dispose of appropriately.
  11. Ability to undertake patient assessment and patient care including major emergency responses.
  12. Aquatic rescue techniques as covered by Pool Lifeguard course.
  13. Current First Aid Certificate
  14. Current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  15. Class C drivers' licence.

Desirable

  1. Aquatic Technical Operators or Pool Operations.
  2. Knowledge and coordination of a local government pool / gym complex.
  3. Undertake cash handling/receipting duties including use of EFTPOS and ability to reconcile and balance end of day.
  4. Pool Lifeguard experience.
  5. Austswim/ASCTA – swimming school qualifications including Infant and Preschool Aquatics, Water Safety, Towards Competitive Strokes and Access and Inclusion.
  6. SIS50122 - Diploma of Sport, Aquatics and Recreation Management.
